Morris is a provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was created by redistribution in 1879, and has existed continuously since that time. The constituency is named after Alexander Morris, who served as Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba from 1872 to 1877.
Morris is a rural riding located in the Red River Valley in the south of the province. In is bordered to the south by Emerson, to the north by Lakeside, to the east by Carman and Portage La Prairie, and to the west by Steinbach, La Verendrye and the City of Winnipeg.
The largest communities in the riding are Morris and St. Malo. Other communities include Otterburne, Rosemont, St. Claude, Ste. Agathe, St. Pierre-Jolys, St. Eustache and St. Francois Xavier
The riding's population in 1996 was 19,962. As of 1999, the average family income was $53,719, and the unemployment rate was 3.90%. Agriculture accounts for 23% of the riding's industry, followed by the retail trade at 10%.
Eighteen per cent of Morris's residents are of German background, and a further 17% are French. The riding has the third-highest percentage of francophones in Manitoba.
The Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba has represented Morris since 1954, and the riding is generally regarded as safe for the party.
